We ran Eco Expert around the triangle, mono 2 and hydro 2 around a larger than normal oval.  Conditions were calm, with a slight ripple on occasions.  We were running an “honesty Box” for buoys as we did not have enough people for Buoy judges….

A nice relaxed day in Lovely Spring sunshine, more testing than racing.

Round up of 21st April outing at Althorne

Well – firstly the sun shone and T shirts were worn along with sunglasses…We had a great Spring day bathed in warm sunshine.  Numbers were limited as we suspected but we ran Eco Expert, Mono 2 and Hydro 1/2 as well.

Roger had done a great job single handed in laying out a proper measured NAVIGA triangle for Eco racing..  Steph took the day and showboated for 9 minutes, yes 9 minutes in his boat (note to self, must check Steph’s batteries next time)

Mono 2 was as ever fast and furious with Steph doing a “stig” entry running Malcom’s newly painted syncron against Lee & Paul’s RASCH boats.

Hydro was fun with a number of boats making their first appearance, as well as old favourites.  Paul took the day with 26 laps using his Zipkits JAE 21 on 6s.

We had a guest as well, Steph brought along Dave Wiggins who is writing an article for one of the model boat mags about the Ospreys club.  Dave has a long history in boat racing as was secretary of the Southend Model boat club for over 20 years.  Once we have a publication date will let you have info.

Round 1 of our race series (rescheduled) due to poor weather

NUMBERS ATTENDING MAY BE LIMITED – so could be a test day – rather than a race meeting….

Hopefully this weekend we can kick off our series!

The forecast as I speak is for cloudy weather with little chance of rain..  So wrap up warm and keep fingers crossed.

we will be checking or relaying the course this week after a cold wet Winter, using the NAVIGA triangle for Eco expert racers to give them some more practice of circling buoys in preparation for the Worlds this year.

Hopefully we can run depending on numbers:

Mono 1

Mono 2

Eco Expert

Hydro – something??

Godzilla (god help us) as well

I will dip into club funds for burgers/rolls/sausages on the grill to warm us up

Please if you get a chance let me know if you are coming (or I will eat all the burgers)

Ostend Ospreys Club Members do well at ELECTRA Meeting – Sunday 7th April

Well the weather was fair and sunny and some of us got a bit too much sun on our ageing solar panels !!

A good turnout and a good level of competition was present:

Mark Shipman took mini mono trophy, as well as Mono 1

Steph took the Eco Expert trophy, with Don in 3rd

Lee took Hydro 1 Trophy (dad Second)

Lee also took Hydro 2 as well (greedy)

not content with that he was second in mono 2 behind Paul Heaton

A good day had by all Ospreys present – well done!!
