MPBA Fast Electric Nationals – round up

Well this was an odd weekend….   We started with an almighty thunder and lightning storm most of the Friday night, at one point thought I had a guy with an arc welder working in the tent!!!  We also had a neighbour in another tent who’s snoring could be heard above the thunder (wish I had a decibel meter) So we started Saturday a bit bleary eyed to say the least…  the rest of the weekend weather was pretty good

Pitting was a bit of an issue this year as the Bridlington club has been “rewired” so no long external extension leads, kettles or fridges allowed.  This mean everyone had to use the power under the shelter for charging, so it was a bit “cosy”

Well Lee and I had a bit of a mare all weekend, mono 2 was a chariot race with 7 drivers in 1 heat which was a bit lively but everyone had the same chance(s)   boats that had been ultra reliable were failing, with motors and ESC’s going down.

So in summary,  the only Osprey who came back with any silverware was Lee, who finished second in hydro 2, one lap behind the winner and took third place in hydro 1.

What was a common thread among the racers all of whom were moaning was how poor the Hobbyking A spec race cells in 3s were, even worse than last years already flakey cells, many packs being 100 milli volts apart , after only a few runs.  So once again cells are an issue!!!

Oh Well there is always next year…..
